I always found it difficult to figure out the exact cost of using a cellular in Uruguay. Like the cellular companies in the USA it seemed to turn into a quagmire of confusion when I wanted to get the simply figure, how much per minute?

According to the information on the back of a 250 pesos card for the Movistar Prepaid Service...rather than buying a card it is a lot better idea to go to Tienda Inglesa or Red Pagos and just give them your phone number and some cash to load your phone (though the system seems flakey and may be down for days at a time).

According to the 250 pesos card (US $11.62) 21.50 pesos to the $.
