Missing International Foods Abroad?

By Elaine at 09/28/09 13:11

Being an expat has many pro's and con's...you get to see the world, experience other cultures, speak new languages, make new friends...but sometimes we just miss home, and that's understandable too.

I come from both a country and a family that makes great food, and unfortunately I've been pretty disappointed in Uruguay's gastronomic offerings (apart from the meat of course - there's nothing like a good asado!). I miss the international cuisine and the huge range of sauces and condiments so easily available at home.

Well look no further! A young couple from the US relocated to Uruguay this year and have spent their first few months here cooking up a storm in the kitchen...and now they're willing to share all their secrets!

Do you crave Chinese food? Why not make your own hoisin sauce or chicken fried rice from scratch? Do you feel like hosting a Mexican night? Don't worry about spending way too much money on overpriced imported products - make your own tortilla chips, guacamole and salsa!

The recipes are so easy and so healthy - now you can know exactly what goes it to your food because you can make it all yourself from the simplest ingrediants! You'll be amazed how easy (and tasty!) it is!

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 4917
