The well known "Sala Zitarrosa" on 18 de Julio will celebrated its tenth anniversary this November with a program that brought together visual art, music and street entertainment on its stage.
Since 1999 the Municipality of Montevideo has intended for the "Sala Zitarrosa" to be used to bring Uruguayan artists to the attention of the people and allow audiences to enjoy many great acts whilst encouraging the growth and dissemination of Uruguayan music.
During 10 year anniversary celebrations many great artists took center stage including:
-the beautiful oil paintings of artist M. Agustina Fernandez Raggio whose series of portraits of characters and symbols, entitled: "I do not covet another fortune, or claim more honor." The intention of this display was is to evoke some leading representations of Uruguayan culture.
- many candombe and tango acts such as "Tango Fugata presents Suite Montevideo".
- Urban Singers and Rock and Roll Acts such as "Damian Salina", "The German", "Alejandro Balbis" and "Cursi".
Although the anniversary celebrations were of course a special event, there continues to be great music, art, culture and talent on display at Sala Zitarossa almost every night! Keep up to date with what acts are performing this month at their website:
