NCSU students go to Uruguay for an organic farming trip

sustainability NCSU students go to Uruguay for an organic farming trip
Through education, we may be able to make this world a better environment-friendly place.

This is why a group of students and professors from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences of the North Carolina State University have recently visited sites (such as farms and marketplaces) that only produce and sell organically grown cattle and vegetables. The 10-day trip was funded by the US Department of Agriculture. Learn more about the trip here in the College's official website.

Canada World Youth in Uruguay!

By Julia Turner at 05/28/08 09:58
Hi everyone, my name is Julia Turner and shortly I will be flying to Uruguay to experience the people and culture for the very first time. I am part of an organization called Canada World Youth where young people ages 17-29 sign up for 6 months of living with host families and volunteering in host communities. I will spend 3 months in Moose Jaw Sask. with 9 other Canadians and a group of 10 Uruguayans. Together we will volunteer in the community, learn each others language and customs, and develop better understanding of each others' cultures. In September, the whole group will fly down to Uruguay and we will live and volunteer in the host community of San Jose de Mayo. I am not sure yet what sorts of volunteer activities we will be doing, but I am very honoured and excited to have been given this opportunity to experience another part of the world.

To be able to participate in Canada World Youth, I must raise $2100 for the organization so that other youth can have the same experiences I will have in the future. I would be extremely greatful for any donations or contributions any of you could make on my behalf to make this dream of mine a reality. If you would like more information, please see the Canada World Youth link in my profile as well as an article from a local paper about me. As well, feel free to email me at juliafundraising@hotmail.com with any questions, or even just to tell me a bit about Uruguay. If you would like it, I have official confirmation of my partipication from Canada World Youth. Please email me for this document.

To donate, please visit Julia Turner Donations and fill in your information (name, credit card number etc.) along with my name (Julia Turner) and my participant number (07006196). Any donation over $20 will get you a tax receipt as Canada World Youth is a registered charity.

Thanks for your time!

Recreation in Uruguay

recreational activities Recreation in Uruguay
Uruguayans love to do a lot of things for recreation. It wouldn't be surprising if a family goes out of every week to go to the beach, or play some soccer, or ride some horses, or maybe just have a picnic with their families and friends. The recreational possibilities are endless! Here is a short article about Uruguay here in Discover Uruguay.
