I think Montevideo has many perks, but sometimes I really feel it lacks tranquil little hide-aways to enjoy an intimate lunch or comfortable coffee shops to curl up with a good book.
A friend of mine recommended a little Italian restaurant called "Fellini's" in Pocitos. Just one block from the Rambla Republica del Peru, on Benito Blanco and Jose Marti, and after trying it today I can say that it is just delightful!
Now it doesn't look much from the outside, the windows are hard to see through and its hidden behind a bus stop but this place is a little gem! The waiters are well dressed in crisp white shirts and black aprons. They served both the food and drinks professionally and politely (which is rare in these cervezerias I see everywhere!). The menu had wonderful choices and at nice affordable prices. They have a lunch special every day and if you order the special 5 times you eat lunch free the next time!
Best of all, it is comfortable, and homely, and its just a pleasure to sit there and enjoy your meal. If you are looking for somewhere to meet a friend, have a nice chat (or business meeting), it is quite, comfortable and it comes highly recommended!
Buen Provecho!
ps: if anyone has discovered a REAL coffee shop (think big comfortable arm chairs, foamy hot chocolates and desserts, and somewhere that doesn't push you out the door once you've finished - ie. somewhere to get lost in a great book, PLEASE PLEASE let me know in a comment! Thank You!)
