On October 31, Carlinhos Brown gave a recital in Montevideo in the lovely outdoor theater called "Teatro Verano" which starts to come to life at this time of year.
Carlinhos Brown is a singer, percussionist, composer and producer from Brazil. Born in the state of Bahia in 1962 he started learning to play the pandeiro and gradually came to dominate all the percussion instruments of Afro-Brazilian culture. Carlinhos became one of the most requested artists and instrumentalists of Bahia, in the early 80's.
He is one of the creators of the samba-reggae sound and in 1985 he was part of Caetano Veloso's band, an important Brazilian musician, but his fame as an artist was a documentary (Candeal), which took several awards worldwide, in various film festivals.
Carlinhos Brown is just one of the many great artists who will take the stage in this lovely outdoor theater this summer so be sure to take advantage of at least one of the great events on offer!
