Opinions of Uruguay

08/29/09 07:07

Uruguay, any: postalIt's funny, although every person forms a different perspective of everything, I have found that most people share the same opinions on Uruguay.

I've been talking with several people outside the country that lives or has lived in Uruguay, and it seems the opinion they have of the country is very positive. They think it is a good place to settle, they say, that it is an ideal country for their children, since Uruguay is quiet and education is pretty good, some others think that Uruguay is ideal to retire after working for many years as  Uruguay offers them peace and relaxation. Maybe sounds weird, but I have not found anyone yet who has come to Uruguay, and think that this country is not pretty.

And the Uruguayans? What do they think of their own country?

Well, Uruguay has two voices, some say that Uruguay is the best place in the world and never think about leaving. Others think that the country is frozen in time, there are no opportunities, and if they have the chance they would go without thinking.

One thing is clear, the Uruguayans always make foreigners feel welcome, we like to interact with the rest of the world. And anyone who comes from outside the country will have to be patient, because local people will not stop asking you where you are you from, WHY you chose to come here, and so on....with many you will be a novelty!
