No more $5 and $10 bills

By Wilbur Corncob at 03/21/08 14:17

By the end of March all the $5 and $10 bills in Uruguay will be out of circulation. Of course the $ is referring to peso and not dollars.

If someone gives you change in the next week or so I'd advise you not to accept the $5 or $10 peso notes. It will be hard to spend them and they are pretty disgusting as well... they practically fall apart in your hands.

The 5 and 10 pesos coins of course are durable and aren't likely to crumble into dust in your fingers.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 4325
